Pops in the Park at Southwood Presented by Florida Commerce Credit Union - May 5, 2012
Please join us on Cinco de Mayo for the community event of the season - Pops in the Park at SouthWood. The park opens at 5:30 and the music begins at 7:00.
The TSO Pops in the Park is a magical evening of outdoor music overlooking Central Park Lake. There is no better way to celebrate the arrival of Tallahassee's glorious spring than by gazing skyward into a clear night while our orchestra serenades you from the stage.
This year’s concert will be conducted by Southwood resident Alexander Jiménez, Director of Orchestral Activities at FSU. Maestro Jiménez has planned a fabulous evening of music that includes movie music, a salute to our armed forces, a tribute to Cinco de Mayo, and a grand finale that includes sparklers!
The TSO’s Pops in the Park at Southwood has become one of Tallahassee’s premier outdoor events, with over 4,000 attending last year. Southwood’s beautiful Central Park Lake forms a fantastic setting for the spectacular sounds of the Symphony. Children can be seen playing and dancing on the lawn while their parents enjoy picnic dinners brought from home or purchased on site. This year's event will feature the Target Stores Kids' Tent with crafts and free face painting. And for adults, Tri-Eagle sales will sponsor a $10 all-u-can-drink-beer armband and Barefoot Wines will be on site with cold white wine.
