Immortal Beethoven: Fate
Venue Details
About the Performance
Two hundred years after his death, Beethoven’s music still strikes with revolutionary power – and your TSO is celebrating his legacy in bold, unforgettable fashion with two Beethoven programs in one epic weekend. Alexander Korsantia, who first performed with TSO in May 2024, returns for this event to perform Beethoven’s Fourth and Fifth Piano Concertos, and the orchestra embraces Beethoven’s legacy with powerful performances of his Fifth and Seventh Symphonies. This unforgettable weekend celebrates the enduring brilliance of Beethoven, showcasing not only four of his most iconic masterpieces but also works by composers who drew inspiration from his genius.
Beethoven’s Fourth Piano Concerto opens the evening and reveals the composer’s intimate and poetic voice. Chin’s subito con forza, a crackling, high-energy work whose title – “suddenly, with force” – is a modern reflection of Beethoven’s own fierce spirit. The iconic Symphony No. 5, a gripping journey of fate, concludes the program; its famous opening and blazing finale remain as urgent and electrifying today as ever.
