About the Performance

For this performance, we warmly welcome Doreen Ketchens, the “Clarinet Queen of New Orleans”! Her radiant tone and expressive artistry shine in Mozart’s treasured concerto as well as some of the New Orleans jazz music that has brought Ms. Ketchens international attention and affection.  With effortless versatility, Ketchens proves that a truly great musical voice knows no boundaries.  In the second half of this program, you’ll revel in Mahler’s first symphony, which, like great New Orleans music, blends joy, irony, and raw emotion into a single unfolding narrative.
