Bio

Jackson Riffle is a performer, educator, composer, and arranger, originally from Pleasant Hill, Ohio. He received his Bachelor of Music with concentrations in Piano and Percussion Performance from Wright State University, under the mentorship of Mr. Gerald Noble and Dr. Jackson Leung, Master’s in Music from the University of Georgia under the guidance of Mr. Tim Adams, and is in current pursuit of his Doctor of Musical Arts at the University of Georgia. Jackson has appeared as a soloist with numerous ensembles and has performed with the Atlanta Symphony (GA), Charleston Symphony (SC), Huntsville Symphony (AL), Albany Symphony (NY), Baton Rouge Symphony (LA), Tallahassee Symphony (FL), Augusta Symphony (GA), Springfield Symphony (OH), Richmond Symphony (IN), Carmel Symphony (IN), and Ozark Opera Orchestra (AR). As an educator, Jackson has served as a music clinician for various high school programs in addition to instructing courses, lessons, and ensembles at the collegiate level. As a composer and arranger, Jackson is a staff member of Fannin Musical Productions, a published composer for Tapspace Publishing Company, C. Alan Publications, and Bachovich Music Publications, has received commissions from various professional and collegiate organizations, and writes for numerous schools and marching bands across the United States.

I enjoy some groovy Jazz Fusion or Film Soundtracks.

Who are your favorite composers?

Shostakovich & Tchaikovsky, but always love some John Williams

What was the first piece of music you fell in love with?

When I was about 9 or 10, my brother gifted me the score for Holst’s The Planets. I was obsessed with this music and remember spending loads of time learning how to follow a full score while listening to the CD. My time spent studying this score also sparked my interest for orchestration and composition, and the rest is history!
